Alana was lying on the floor on her back facing the ceiling with her hands folded underneath her head for support. The room wasnt decent, but it had what was necessary for a test subject like herself. There was a bed, a sink for water, and a table with a chair. Her have half-closed brown eyes blinked a few times while she scratched between the short black hairs on her head. She looks downward at her exposed bulging belly which was huge. It looked like she was carrying 7 human babies when she was really carrying 1 inhuman baby.
She rubs her belly while wondering what kind of demon is going to come out in the end. Hmm, this big after only 4 months. she smiles to herself. This is going to be interesting. The door to her room opens and a man in a white lab coat walks in carrying a tray with a meal on it. Alright, its meal time number 53764. he says to Alana. Alana gives him a frown. I told you before my names Alana. I like being called that better. she told him.
The man walks into the room. Its lab regulation to refer to the experiments by their numbers. he said. Still, Alana sounds better than number 53764. replied Alana. Im just following the rules. said the man. He puts the tray on the table. Ill leave this here. You know, you should be lying on the bed if you want to rest. Alana stares at the ceiling again. I like the ground better. she says simply. The man sighs in response and starts walking to the door and was about to leave when Alana stops him.
Hey, wherere you going? Alana asked. Im going back to work. said the man. Why not say here and talk? I havent talked to anyone about anything during the last 4 months except during the 50 seconds you come in to deliver a meal. I need to talk more than that. said Alana. The man paused for a minute and shrugged. Fine, I guess. My 30 minute break is now anyway so I guess I can talk with you during that time. He replied. Thank you. said Alana happily.
The man shuts the door and stays in the room. Alana stands up and faces him. So, what should I call you as? she asked the man. Im called scientist number 519. he answers. Alana frowns at him again. Give me a real name besides a number. I hate numbers. she tells him. The man sighs. Fine, if it makes you happy you can call me Peter. he said. Alana smiles at him. Now Peter sounds like a real name. Much better then been called 519. she tells Peter. I guess so. Peter replies. Alana walks over to the bed and sits on it.
Peter continues to stand by the door and notices Alana motioning for him to sit next to her. Peter hesitates for a second, and then sits next to Alana on the bed. Tell me whats happening on the outside world. said Alana. Nothing changes much in 4 months. Everything is basically the same. People are working, wars are being fought, and apparently the President as issued a ban on goods that has too much alcohol in them. explained Peter. I see. Still the same as it was when I left it. said Alana. Pretty much. replied Peter.
Why can I go outside while doing this? asked Alana, pointing at her exposed belly. The rules state that you must stay down here during your first time through the process. Its to test whether or not you can remain stable in that condition. If you make it through this time, then youre free to do whatever you want on the outside during your second time. answered Peter.
But, cant I wear anything besides these clothes? asked Alana. They were out of style before I came here.
Alana was wearing a short-sleeved red shirt with red pants. The shirt had a hole in the front for her belly to stick out through has she progressed her pregnancy experimentation. No. Its regulation for experiments to wear to wear the clothing that are giving during their testing period. explained Peter, who was starting to get tired of explaining all the rules to the test girl next to him. Could I at least get shoes? Alana asked, looking at her bare feet as much as she could. No. Peter said bluntly.
Alana thought for a few minutes. I wonder what kind of demon is going to come out. she says, staring at her belly. I know what Im in for, but Im only doing this because I was bored. Plus, this might be good practice for when I get around to having a human baby. Peter was silent for a moment. You know, I cant understand why a teenage girl like yourself would want to do this. Dont you have a family that needs you with them? he asked her. Alana looked at the ceiling again. If I had a family I wouldnt be doing this. she tells him.
Im sorry. said Peter. Alana smiles at him. Dont worry Im used to it. Im a loner, but I do know some people that I can consider a family. Theres this little girl that is always happy to see me and hear what Im done recently. I cant wait to tell her that I was birthing demons. said Alana. Peter had a slight frown. The chances off surviving this are low. You might not be able to go back. he said. Ill go back definitely. said Alana.
Peter examined his watch. Looks like I need to get back to work. Ill take my live now. he says. Alana gives him a peck on the cheek. Thanks for talking with me. It reminds me that Im still alive. she tells him with a smile. Peter smiles back and walks toward the door. Youre welcome Alana. he says as he lives. You didnt call me by my number. Alana pointed out. You said you liked being called Alana better. said Peter. He then shuts the door leaving Alana alone. Alana lies down on the bed and faces the ceiling. Yep, things are getting interesting. she says to herself.
